Getting the PAY UP! message to the top of BT

Connect General Secretary, Adrian Askew, and President, Denise McGuire, present members' comments at BT Centre

Connect received so many comments supporting the PAY UP! campaign we thought it was important that BT senior managers got to see what the company's managers and professionals were saying.  And to make sure that the comments got to the top, we attached them to balloons to give them the lift they needed to get to the top floor of BT Centre.

Since the start of February members have been sending in their comments by the hundreds about pay and the NRF. We've been putting the comments up on the Connect website and have sent the link to BT's negotiators, but we thought it was just possible BT's most senior managers wouldn't have seen them. We therefore printed out all the comments and delivered them to BT's HQ.

Connect members join in for the presentation, making sure that everyone outside the entrance to BT Centre know what's going on

General Secretary Adrian Askew and President Denise McGuire led a small group of members to present the four A4 folders of comments for delivery to BT's Chief Executive, Ben Verwaayen. Adrian said: 'We wanted to make sure that our members' views could be read by the BT Board - so we sent them in with some balloons to help them rise to the top!' In fact, we had planned to take along one balloon per comment - but even with a large van, we couldn't fit them all in!

You can download a copy of the letter to Ben Verwaayen from the documents section.

These members helped deliver the comments that Connect has received in February and March about the NRF.  Have you let BT know what you think?
